These graphs are from episode 9 of DM and represent the major entities or groups that own stock in Kaiba Corporation during Duelist Kingdom. At the time of Pegasus’ takeover attempt, the Big Five are stated to collectively own 50% of the company. Check out this image:
It’s kind of hard to see, but the green bar represents shares owned by the Big Five prior to Pegasus’ power grab. The red bar is labeled “PC” and the yellow bar is “KS” - Pegasus Crawford and Kaiba Seto. The other bars are “AI” and “CO” - who knows what they are. It’s interesting to note that Pegasus already owned about 15% of the company before his takeover attempt. Kaiba himself owns about 30%.
This second image represents a scenario in which the Big Five had successfully transferred their shares to Pegasus. This would have made him the majority shareholder, with Industrial Illusions owning about 65% of Kaiba Corporation.
Now I’m confused. How was Kaiba CEO of KC if he only owned 30%? Or did he take over as CEO AFTER Pegasus in the anime?
The CEO of a company is a paid position. That doesn’t necessarily mean they own the company, although often, they do. Kaiba owns a significant percentage of Kaiba Corporation. The position and the ownership are not lock-step, however.
Kaiba Corporation (from every amount of evidence I’ve seen) is a publicly traded company. Which means investors own a significant percentage of it, including the Big Five, Pegasus, Kaiba himself and other unnamed groups.
